Herbalist Experience

I started studying herbs in my late teens, over 30 years ago while studying Botany while attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Since graduating in 1992 with a BS in Biology I continued my studies in Herbal Medicine and Horticulture. In 1998-1999 I attended a Herbal Certification Course at Highline Community College, studying under Ayurveda Herbalist Karta Parkh Singh Khalsa. In 2002 I started KA Bailey’s Botanicals which I changed to Herbal Elements in 2006. I was selling my herbal products online, at fairs and markets gaining valuable encounters peppered with tremendous triumphs mixed with a few blunders.

I learned to find my balance through education, experience and practice, practice, practice!

I met Robyn Liss in 2010, owner of Ubi’s and for 8 years (2010 - 2017) I was Staff Herbalist at Ubi's-Ubiquitous Journey aka Ubi's cafe-an Herb, Tea & Spice Shop in Tacoma, WA. I gained tremendous amount of experience creating custom blends for clients and developing my line of supplements, teas & tinctures.

Since the late nineties I have worked at several plant nurseries in the Tacoma, WA area and even owned my own Pond Store for several years. I was manager, buyer, grower, sales, social media posting and blog writer. It seemed easy for me to work my herbal business while surrounding myself in the plant world. I have also been an avid organic gardener for over 25 years growing fruits, veggies, ornamental & indoor plants and of course herbs!.

I established Herbal Elements in 2002 and have been developing my recipes for over 20 years. We only use the finest organic and fair-trade ingredients. We package our products in earth friendly or glass containers whenever possible to preserve our products quality. Our products are often prepared in small patches following the cycles of the moon which ensures a synergistic fusion of herbs energy to increase (new moon) or decrease (full moon). Many of our organic botanicals are grown on our farm in Roy, WA and are picked at optimum ripeness and processed immediately ensuring that only fresh, healthy plant material is used. Herbs are also acquired from local, reputable sources and growers like Mountain Rose Herbs.

We also have direct relationships with herb and tea suppliers, local to the PNW and direct importers from China and other parts of the world.

Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world's oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It's based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. I blend these concepts with my Reiki training (Master/Teacher level 1998), Chakra Connections energetics, Nutritional Support and Herbal Medicine = Integrative Herbal Medicine.

I specialize in Herbal Consultations for those wanting to target specific health issues; detoxification programs; maintain, build and provide nutritional support using herbs customized to the individual’s needs.
